This Privacy Policy explains how SmartLingo AI (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the SmartLingo AI mobile application and related website (the “Service”).
1. Information we process
Depending on how you use the app, we may process:
- Translation content you enter, speak, or capture (text, voice audio for recognition, and images for OCR), processed to provide translations.
- Device permissions data such as microphone and camera access, only when you grant permission and use those features.
- On-device history of translations stored locally on your device so you can revisit recent results.
- Technical diagnostics such as crash or performance information if you later enable analytics services.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide text, voice, conversation, and photo translation features
- Download and run on-device language models required for translation and OCR
- Improve reliability and user experience
- Respond to support requests sent to our contact email
3. On-device processing
SmartLingo AI is designed to perform much of its core translation and recognition work on your device using Google ML Kit and Android speech services. Some features may require a network connection to download language models the first time they are used.
4. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. Content you submit for translation may be processed by on-device libraries or platform services needed to operate the feature you requested (for example speech recognition). We share information only when required to provide the Service, comply with law, or protect our rights.
5. Data retention
Translation history is stored locally on your device until you delete individual items or clear history in the app. Support emails you send to us are retained as needed to respond to your request.
6. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Your choices
- You can deny or revoke microphone and camera permissions in system settings.
- You can delete translation history inside the app.
- You can uninstall the app to remove local app data subject to your device settings.
8. Third-party services
The app may rely on Google ML Kit, Android platform speech/text-to-speech components, and device camera APIs. Their processing is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies in addition to this Policy.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
